Event wrap-up
Harnessing the power of microbial genomics for infection control and outbreak response
Queensland Genomics held All Hands 2, the second meeting for the Alliance Community, in February 2019. The event was an opportunity for Queensland Genomics members to share information, findings and future plans for the Queensland Genomics program.
The program began with a keynote address from Professor Kathryn North who discussed the Genomics Health Futures Mission as part of the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). The first project to be launched under the Genomics Health Futures Mission is ‘Mackenzie’s Mission’: a $20 million trial in genetic carrier screening for rare and devastating birth disorders, including spinal muscular atrophy.
The program followed with:
– Findings presented by leads of the Round 1 Clinical Demonstration Projects and Capability Building Workstreams
– An introduction to the Round 2 Clinical and Capability Projects
– The timing for Queensland Genomics Round 3.
