The Language of Genetics & Genomics: Healthcare Interpreter training session [Online]
Queensland Genomics will hold a Personalised Medicine and You session at the 2018 Annual Health Consumers Queensland Forum.
Continuing advances in medical science and technology now mean that health care can be tailored to individual patients based on their unique genetic make-up. This is happening in healthcare right now, and will continue at an accelerated rate.
It is known as personalised or precision medicine, and it uses genomic science to provide faster diagnosis, better treatment and improved health outcomes.
But how do we ensure equity of access to new treatments that require a highly specialised workforce?
And how do health consumers advocate for themselves and others in this increasingly complex environment?
This session – brought you by the Queensland Genomics Health Alliance – will provide a background on genomics in healthcare and discuss the importance of robust consumer engagement to deliver personalised medicine.
