Whole genome sequencing is at the forefront of a revolution in microbiological diagnostics. It is proving to be an essential tool in outbreak recognition and response, both in hospitals and the community.

This workshop aims to equip clinicians, as well as infection control and public health practitioners with an understanding of the potential, the limitations and the practical application of microbial genomics to everyday clinical and epidemiological problems. As well as lectures, the course will include lab demonstrations and practical sessions exploring genomic data analysis.

Through the support of the Queensland Genomics Health Alliance and Queensland Health, the Practical Microbial Genomics Workshop is free. Preference will be given to Queensland Health employees, including Hospital and Health staff within the categories listed below. A limited number of places will be provided to Interstate applicants.
